France- Thursday

Feb. 15th

Dear Cattie,

I’m feeling terribly blue tonight, and there doesn’t seem to be a thing that I can do about it. I’m so disappointed with this company, and I hate most of the officers. And if it weren’t for Lee, I’d transfer in less than 10 days. I’d be perfectly happy in “B” company, because I like every officer there; but- no soap! Possibly, my sudden ill-feeling might be due to my homesickness, because I’m becoming to miss you all more each day. So, I suppose the only solution to my problem, is a quick ending to the war. I’ll see what I can do about it! Ha Ha

I got two letters from you last night “Cat,” dated Jan. 17th & 18th ,  and really enjoyed them both. I received quite a laugh from your description of Pete, Smokey, and the Christmas tree. Ha Ha And also the little bear cartoon. If I get to the Pacific, I’ll have to try that “palm tree juice” Ha Ha Right now, I’m forced to drink that horrible old scotch.

There’s a U.S.O show at “Group” tonight, but I’m just in the mood to write. Oh yes, I missed Bing’s “Going My Way” last week when I was in Belgium. Isn’t that ironical? I’ve been so long to see it too.

Yesterday and today were actually beautiful. The first two sunny days in two or three weeks, I believe. If time permits tomorrow, I hope to take some snapshots. I took two on the roll in my camera now, but haven’t had an opportunity to complete it.

I’m letting my hair grow out again. But I have so darned much dandruff, that it seems impractical. But then, it’s been about nine months since I’ve used a comb, and too, I might get a leave one of these days. So- no haircuts for a while. .

I hardly know what to write to finish this page “Cattie,” so I suppose I’ll include the “news.” Ha Ha. All fronts look darn good right now, and I’m hoping that the war is over by the time you receive this letter; but that’s all but impossible.

Well, guess this isn’t much of a letter, but there isn’t anything to write about. So, tell Joe “hello,” and until later, this is your little (?) cousin “signing off.”

P.S Gee whiz! I forgot                                      Love- Urbey

“Auntie” momentarily!

Tell Aunt Irene “hello” too Cattie! Ha Ha
