Dear Son

Just got through having a bite to eat so I thought I would drop you a few lines letting you know we are fine. [I was] out for a ride this afternoon. [I] was out to Arcica cemetery to see Hank Lange’s grave. I see she don’t have any thing on it. I guess he is forgetting. By now she used to have the cemetery [fixed] but I suppose that runs kind of high. Well Bill how are things with you? We hope you are fine [and] well. Emily stopped by this morning when she came from Wold’s. Well I guess she is kind of glad that she won’t have to go there in the evening anymore. I know her folks are because they didn’t like it a bit. I was out to Regina’s Friday night as she had that demarcation over at her house. It was kind of nice and we had coffee and cake afterward. She was saying that George was going to try and come in on a pass so I hear he came in Saturday for a few hours and Tina called up Saturday morning and said she had received a telegram from Ray that he was in the States and would wire her when he got in and then Lorraine called in the afternoon and ask me if her Mother had called me and I told [her] yes. Well she said she had got one too and that he would be in Monday sometime but he did not mention that to Tina. Maybe he wants to talk to Lorraine first. That is going to be a surprise when he finds out about his money. I said to Tina I thought you were coming over that Friday for supper and she said she didn’t remember saying that. Della stayed here Friday night as she was afraid to go home by herself but Dick and Cathrine took us home so that we did not have to take the street car as it here rained pretty hard all night. And Della went to the doctor from here bad. She called me in the afternoon and told me the doctor said that she is anemic and the reason her feet swell is because of poor circulation of the blood. Otherwise that is all but she is putting her on a diet. She weighted 200 pounds the first night she went to be examined and Saturday she was 164 and she has to go back in a month. Well Bill, I will close for now hoping we hear from you this week and hoping you are in good health and the best of luck always and take care of yourself. Lots of love. Your pa wants to add a few lines.

Dear Son

Hi Bill. I hope [you’re] OK. Well did not know what to do. Thought we would take a little ride yesterday and also today went to look at a few stucco jobs but today was going to the lake but [it] was so awful crowded that we turned west and drove around this County instead. As the roads were not near as crowded [and] as your Mom gets too narrow when there is a car on both sides of the street, [we walked] for a little while. We did not get any calls for stucco. I suppose on account of so many people on vacations and also the heat but the last week was your 5 calls. Mell Bilk that’s sure tough as you said you boys had to move, after getting things straightened out, but hope it will be all sorted in a very short time. Bill let me know of what it will cost for some kind of small things that you can buy down there that I can show around. Maybe something like a little grass shirt or anything and I will send you the change. Well Bill, are you working on any now Head quarters or still driving a truck? Well John is about the same. Has not had another operation as yet. My brother Bill was in and went to see John but my sister told your Mom that they did not let him in on account of rest fines. But he did not have [to] stop over here as I suppose he [does] not have much time as he is always pretty busy. Well Bill there is not much more news that I know of at present so will close. Hoping you the Best of Health and good Luck with all our Love
