Dearest Sweetheart:

A strong rain is beating against the windows and it’s such a miserable night. The folks and I are sitting here in the dining room munching on hard candy. When I started home from work tonight, the wind was so strong it actually pushed me while walking. How’s my sweet, loving Hubby today? Much, much better than ever before? I hope so. Sweet, I’m feeling very well too. Every one else is going along very well. I called your folks tonight but they were just going out. Your Mom said they may have good news for me tonight and every time I hear the tingle of the phone, I jump. Honey, can you really understand how eager I am to work out some way of speeding up your release? Every day that no success is made in your favor, I get twice as disappointed. I hope the call comes while I’m writing and I’ll jot all the information. in the meantime, I’ll continue with other news.

I called Thelma tonight and asked what is new about Gene. He’s scheduled to leave around the end of this month and happen to be home by Christmas. Gene is now in the Medical Corps. You should’ve heard the little rascal – she kept saying close to the phone “Daddy gonna bring me buggy.” Gene wrote that he was going to buy a lot of tarp when he gets home and Thelma told Martha Sue her Daddy was going to bring tags and the little runt keeps saying it all day long. There’s such a wonderful change in Thelma since I last talked to her. She said she felt a thousand percent better knowing she could “put her finger” on something definite about Gene’s homecoming. She said he has 75 pts. She wanted me to visit her this week but I’d rather wait until next week.

I was lucky today and got your letter. It took 10 days this time to get here. I would like to finish your question of the other letter which I started yesterday, and by that I’ll soon get caught up with your letters. Have you been receiving my letters regularly and have those you missed recently finally been delivered to you? Darling, it will be simply wonderful not to have to worry about letters and what’s happening to each other. We’ll be near all the time even when we’re apart during the day while you’re earning our “bread and butter”. Do you like the idea of making a future for our “family-to-be” and above all making some of our dream come true? Life seems so important this way, doesn’t it?

Sweetums, that was a coincidence that other girls had the same idea as I had regarding black nightgowns and such. I really had to laugh at that clipping you sent. I still haven’t gotten any nightie to go with the pretty negligee you gave me. You know, I really liked to strut around in it before you. You can’t imagine how luxurious a girl feels about pretty things like that.

I’m glad you explained a little more about your work. You know I’m interested and anything you have to tell me will always make me feel closer to you.

Don’t you feel good when something is served to the boys they really like? Yes, Honey, we liked them a lot. Will you like them when you are home? I hope we’ll be able to get some of the electrical; we may need a lot – such as toaster and grill.

SAY, I feel so PROUD of you when you wrote that ‘thou cooking was a woman’s job, you would help me as much as you can. You can’t imagine how happy I felt knowing you feel that way. That’s the way everything should be with us, shouldn’t it – 50-50? We had fun down South especially on Saturdays, remember? We’ll have to get an 8 cubic foot refrigerator, won’t we? We’ll have to entertain quite a bit after we’re all settled down to repay our friends’ hospitality, don’t you think? I’m anxious to see you as host.

I just looked over the snapshots I had received from Mrs. Wright. There’s one I’m not sure whether it’s you – did you have a steel helmet on? There were two other fellows with you – There were no pictures of fellows in a chorus line.

Regarding the Wold case, Vivian said her boss expected results this week. He contacted the Wold lawyer twice last week. The lawyer had asked me about the amount I expected and I made it clear that anyone else would’ve had to be paid $7.00 a night, why should I get less? I will let you know as soon as I hear more about it. We can use that money for many good things. Well, Sweet, I’m going to bed early tonight. Tomorrow will be a heavy day of work. It always is between the 8th and 15th of the month.

Please keep feeling as fine as you were when writing your last letter. I think of you always. I’ll pray so hard – I love you, Honey –

The very best of luck, Sweet –

                                    Your Little Woman
