Dear Ollie,

I received your letter Wednesday Jan. 5 and was glad to hear from you.

I am glad to hear that you had a happy Christmas, what kind of Christmas gifts did you get for Christmas?

When we had Christmas in Chicago it wasn’t even snowing, and besides it didn’t seem like Christmas because we knew every thing that we were going to get.

What I got for Christmas is no military secret as other kids say.   I got a belt for my pants and a very good skating sweater with a hood on it and a muffler and a pair of snow gloves and a pair of dress gloves.

When New Years came we went out with my Pa and my Ma and did we have a good time.  We went bowling at Lake-view and at the bowling alley where my brother works.  After we went bowling we went to a restaurant, and by the time we got in it was 1:30 in the morning and boy was I tired.

On Saturday Jan. 8 I am going to be in an ice skating race, and I got a hunch that I’m going to lose. In June we’re going to move on a farm and in one way I like [it] and in another way I don’t like it.  My sister is all against it as she doesn’t like farms.

-- Well I have to be going now ------

                        So long.

                                    As ever

Ok but you and Eddie fit that picture as a block head.

P.S. It’s a small envelope isn’t it?  But it was the only one I could find.
