Subic Bay, Luzon, P.I.

Hello Darling,

How does that salutation suit you hon? I think it suits just fine because I do love you believe me.

Please excuse me for not writing to you last night hon but I got back to the ship about eleven and I was pretty tired so I turned in. I went to see the stage show “In Old Chicago” and it was real good. It was good to take a gander at a white girl again. Am I excused? On Saturday night I expect to see “Kiss and Tell” but I don’t know if we will be here anymore or not but I am hoping we will be.

Let’s see what did I do today? I got up this morning at eight and cleaned up the sleeping quarters and then most of us went back to bed until dinner time. This afternoon about five of us fellows went fishing in our launch. We were on about a half hour when we decided to make it a picnic so we came back to the ship and got some hot dogs, potatoes to bake, sweet corn and some beer and cakes, we also took guns with us and we had the time of our lives. We first came back a few minutes ago and we are all pretty tires. So there you can see how hard we work out here!!! I don’t know why they don’t let us come home because we are only sleeping and eating out here and what work we do can be put in a nutshell.

Tomorrow morning we play softball so that will be another day wasted because we don’t work in the afternoon because of this terrible heat. So right after the show tonight you will find Gene in his bed, ah there is nothing like a good night’s sleep!!! Lately I am getting too much sleep because I can’t sleep nights but I am sure nothing will slop me tonight.

I am doing all my sleeping while I am out here because I know I won’t get very much when I come home because there will be too much to do. I know that I won’t be going to bed at eight and nine o’clock on Saturday and Sunday nights those days will be gone forever when I get home. Did you ever go to bed that early hon??

He didn’t get nay mail for a week now so I still didn’t get that sweet picture that you sent to me. One of the fellows is going to Manila in the morning to get our mail so maybe I will get it real soon. I also hope there will be a lot of letters from you because I live and look forward to them more than anything else out here so please write as often as you can hon.

How are your mother and Dad? Give them my best regards and tell them that I said hello. I’ll never forget the time that your Dad told me that you were too young to come out to see me. You could have knocked me over with a feather but maybe he was right?

Well beautiful I guess I better bring this letter to a close but I’ll be back again tomorrow night about the same time, o.k.? So be sweet hon and here’s hoping I’ll be home with you real soon, bye now. Love Me?

                                                                                                Yours Always,

                                                                                                         Genie
