My
Dearest Darling Wife,
Hello Honey doll, how is my little sugar lump. Awful, awful sweet I know and
fine I hope. You had better be darling. Honey I received the sweetest letter
today, I was so happy when that mail man handed me a letter from my darling
wife. I got one from Mother today too. The mail is sure slowed up now, I guess it’s the Christmas rush starting in. Gee
darling it makes me feel so darn swell when I get a letter from my darling
wife. Honey I guess that those two letters that came together did go out the
same day. You see darling there isn’t any mail that leaves here on Saturday
after noon until Monday morning, so that’s the reason you get them like that
Honey.
Well darling this is Monday evening and I guess my darling wife and Norma is
having supper at your Aunt’s and Uncle’s. Gee I would sure like to be there
with you Honey and I know you wish I was there too. It will be so darn swell
when I do get home and we can really go out together like that and really enjoy
ourselves. I know you will really feel like having a good time then too. I want
you to have a good time now to Honey and whatever you want to do you do it
darling cause you know your husband wants you to. I
know it is really hard on you darling cause I just don’t feel like doing
anything without my darling and I know you are the same way Honey. This place
here is sure some place, they cut the passes down today so that a man can’t go
to town hardly at all now. Every day we spend here though is just one day less
that we will have to spend across so it doesn’t make much difference I guess.
The only thing is that we never can make anything out of ourselves here and we
sure ain’t learning anything here, but we have to do
what ever they have for us anyway and like we have always said everything turns
out for the best Honey. Our time is really coming darling and what I mean we
will really have a good time too and be so darn happy. This war is sure coming
swell and Honey I know God is going to end this war and I will be back in your
sweet arms before very long. Gee it will be so darn swell when this is all
ended Honey cause then we know it won’t be so terrible
long until I will be in my darling’s arms. You are so darn sweet and I love you
so awful, awful much darling.
Honey it was so swell and sounded so darn swell when you told me that you
prayed so hard for us in the two-minute silent prayer at the auditorium.
Darling we really believe in God and really know what he stands for. I am so
darn glad we feel like we do and pray like we do. I know and you know that God
will hear our prayers and that he will really answer them and that he will not
let us down now. It makes me happy all over Honey to know that I married a
Lutheran girl and married by a Lutheran minister. You are so perfect all over
darling and so awful sweet. I know it is so awful hard for us now darling but
our time is really coming and we will really know how to enjoy life after all
this.
I was sure glad to hear you got my picture Honey and glad you liked it. I sent
you the little picture in a letter darling and the snapshots too. You should
already have them by now Honey. I am sure anxious to get the pictures you had
taken darling and send me all you can and when ever you can darling, just send
me some every week cause it makes me feel so close to you darling. Those two
you sent me are so wonderful along with the others I have of my darling wife.
Well Honey I done my washing again this evening, you know me I can’t let it
pile up on me. I bought me a box of Rinso today and
boy did I have the suds. They sure are white too, my hands are also. I will
know how to do everything when I get out of this army. I wash and cook and do
everything in this army. I had two pairs of socks, three suits of underclothes,
a handkerchief and a towel. Boy some washing for me. I
should of washed last weekend but I put it off. You
will have a wife and a husband combined when I get home darling. Some more of
the fellows left from here today so I expect our time is close now, we never
know when. It was sure another swell day here today Honey. We went on a hike
this morning and we had a talk by one of the Lieutenants this evening.
I’ll bet your rug is sure looking swell and I’ll bet
you are coming right along with it to Honey. Gosh you will have a house full of
things when I get home darling. It will be so darn swell and we will be so
awful happy when we get together. Just think darling we will be able to sleep
together and be together all the time from the first day I get home and we will
be together all the time. It will really be our first free days of married life
darling and we will be so darn happy. I think about the things we used to do
all the time Honey. My darling little wife is on my mind day and night. When I
get home Honey we are sure going to go to our old places and do just like we
used to. It was so darn swell when we used to go up on the hill and listen to
the radio and love each other and then we would come back and get something to
eat and then we would go out to our old parking place on the hill. Gosh we have
had so wonderful times on that old hill Honey. It sure was a good place too and
we hardly ever had anyone bother us. We sure did take some chances though, Boy
oh Boy what a good time we did have. When we get together we will really have a
good time darling, gee it will be so darn swell.
I love you so darn much and you know I always will Honey. I am so proud of my
darling wife and my heart is almost breaking for you sweetheart. I know things
will turn out all right for us Honey and everything will be alright. I am
keeping my chin up Honey and I know you have your chin up too darling. You are
so darn wonderful and so beautiful darling, the most perfect little wife in the
world, my own little blond. You are so darn sweet and you are so precious baby
dear. Gosh I will be glad when I get your pictures and some of the packages you
sent me Honey. I sure hope they get here soon cause I
am so darn anxious. That was such a sweet kiss you sent me today darling, your
sweet little lip prints right there on the paper for me. I will be so happy
when we can put our arms around each other and kiss those sweet lips in person.
Won’t it be wonderful darling. I love you so darn much
and you know I always will darling.
Well Honey I guess I had better close for this time and I will write you as
soon as possible Honey. I will be looking for your sweet letters and be seeing
you darling. Tell all the folks hello Honey and I hope
everyone is feeling alright.
