My Dearest Darling Wife,                                                                                 April 23, 1943

Hello Honey, how is my darling little wife? Awful, awful sweet I know and fine I hope.  You had better be darling.  Honey, I got two of the sweetest letters from you and two from the folks.  I was working last nite and when I got in they was laying on my bed.  I couldn’t hardly wait until this morning to read them.  They was so perfect and so sweet dear.  Gee but it makes me feel good when I can hear from you honey.  These letters were the fifth and sixth of April, so not that bad.  I sure hope you are getting my mail Honey, I write you almost every day now.  You are so darn sweet and I love you so awful, awful much darling.

Gosh Honey I wish there was some way for you to get a rest.  I don’t see how you stand it Honey.  Here you were on your vacation and doing more work than ever.  Please take it easy dear and don’t wear yourself out.  If only I could be there and help you darling and then things wouldn’t be half so hard on my little wife.  Please be careful now darling and get your rest, and I sure wish this thing would hurry up and get over so I could be home with you dear.  I sure hope Mother is better by now dear.  If only she could get home it wouldn’t be half as bad on you Honey.  I know God is watching over Mother Honey and I know he will do everything possible.  Be sure and tell everyone hello for me dear.

Well Honey I don’t suppose this will be much of a letter.  I worked until midnite last nite and then up at six this morning to start in cleaning a brand new rifle.  All the follows in the company have their rifles and us new fellows are getting ours now.  I just finished up at about eleven o’clock, sure some job.  And then I have to get ready to go on guard to nite.  It will be my first time since I have been in the army.  I will sure be glad when I get this first time over because I will know just how it is then.  I have sure been lucky about not getting guard before I got here, because that is one thing that everyone in the army does.  We go onto nite at six and off tomorrow nite at six so it will be Sunday before I get to write you again Honey, I won’t get to write tomorrow.

I love you so awful, awful much and you know I always will dearest.  You are so darn sweet and so precious, my own sweet little wife.  Gee Honey you sure are so wonderful and everyone writes me and tells me what a perfect little wife I have, so nice looking.  It really makes me feel good Honey, so happy, and there isn’t any one that can tell me how wonderful you are or how beautiful either because I already know that Honey, gee you are sweet.  I love you so awful, awful much and you know I always will dear.

Well Honey I guess I had better close for this time and I’ll write you as soon as possible now dear.  I’ll be looking for your sweet letters Honey.  Please take good care of yourself dearest.

Loads and Loads of love and more love is all I can say dear.

Love to my dearest darling wife.
