Saturday Afternoon

My Dearest Sweetheart;

                This afternoon is simply beautiful and as soon as Leona hangs out her washing we’re going to do something – maybe take a walk over to the Golden Gate Bridge. I went shopping with her over at the Ft. Mason Commissary and Presidio. Wish you were here to mess around with.

                As soon as ever I finish this letter to you, I must study for awhile; guess I’ve told you before that I have a midterm on Monday in Social Welfare. Wish I could make an A; would give most anything to make an A, baby. Why don’t you take the exam for your sweetheart?

                Remember your Eta Kappa Nu pin? I’ve been wearing it quite faithfully here lately and everyone admires it so much – it’s funny – I have always liked it too, but it takes a lot of work to change it onto other clothes, so I have usually kept it on my very best go-meeting outfit; but since I seldom wear my go-meeting clothes, I have been wearing the pin on my blouses to school. Remember when you gave me that pin in Cleveland? It was the Christmas before we were married? Happy day; had I any inkling that time would part us for so long and that circumstance would not permit us to live together, I’d have mended my ways long before now. Some day I shall make it up to you, Pet. Often I have the most realistic dreams of you; feel that I could almost touch you.

                Have an awfully sore blister on my right heel which has become slightly infected – I’m giving it special care, but it’s awfully annoying – I love you,
