Dear Fran:-

Just received the morning mail and must say I done quite well for myself getting three from you and one from Verna. If they leave me alone long enough I’ll endeavor to get them answered. Today I’m barracks orderly plenty of work but you don’t have to kill yourself doing it. Your biggest job is to see that your barracks is in tip-top shape for inspection. You must sweep the walks, police around the barracks, rake up, clean the furnace room, then come inside and sweep line up all the beds, foot lockers, clothes, shoes also clean the latrine. Well I’ve finished that so before I do my own work I’ll get at least your letter answered. I must clean my rifle, wash my fatigues, polish my shoes, take a shower and shave. So you see you don’t just sit on your ass all day. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself by running around with Janie because she’s a nice girl just like my honey so I’m sure I don’t have to worry about you neither should you worry about me because I’m behaving very well. You asked me about that collar holder well I bought one of those at Indiantown Gap (.11^¢) so don’t get me one, if I should lose this one I have I can get another here at the P.X. The next package you send you can send about four of my white undershirts because I almost have to change underwear every day thats all at present I can think of. You asked about the check from Beth. Steel Co. well I haven’t seen hide nor hair of it as yet but I’m sure I’ll get as soon as they get [edited for content] good and ready so don’t worry after I send my board money home there will be darn little left I guess. If it isn’t much I’ll keep it and if its quite a bit I’ll send it home and you can get yourself something. I still haven’t gotten your package yet because last night I didn’t get out of the kitchen until 7:45 and then the P.O. was closed and today I’m not supposed to leave the barracks but I’ll run up right after chow because I do need the cigarettes badly. Bob is going to seen his wife this week end and on Sunday is going to pick me up with the in-laws car a we are going to look the country over. Verna said she has a very nice home picked out in Mt. Pocono I certainly hope they get it and David can get his discharge soon because he’s surely entitled to it. She said Ray & Natalie’s baby was very cute and Judy was quite thrilled about it. In case I haven’t told you before we are going to have one as soon as I get home so get prepared because there will be no more monkeying around. Well honey I guess I’ve shot off about enough this time so I’ll bring this to a close and hope to hear from you soon. I love you so don’t forget it hope I can get home sooner than we expect.
