My Dearest,

I’m happy to know you are a cadet Sergeant but I’m not surprised.  Carlton has just been made a Sergeant too.  He was home for the week end and he gets a furlough beginning Tuesday.  After that his division will be sent to Florida for an indefinite time, but Jean is taking it pretty nicely.

So you couldn’t go to the dance Sat. nite!  Well that’s too bad but maybe it is just as well on the second thought.  Thou wise probably some cute gals there and that would just complicate things something awful.

Jerry and Carroll were down to see us Sunday evening.  You should see her youngun.  He is a darling.  Sadly, fat as a little pig and looks exactly like Jerry.

It is most peculiar but I can’t think of anything to day when I sit down to write to you.  There is a lot I would like to say to you but it is kind of personal so it will just have to wait I guess.  So be good my Darling and write after as I miss you terribly.

XX                                                           With all my love,

                                                                Bessie
