Day 440715

Dearest Mine,

Your old man has practically nothing to write about but a letter is a letter just the same in our league, isn’t that right? I had had the one letter from you and though that was a duzzy it won’t last me forever and I am looking forward to the mail from now on for the remedy.

The news—Luke Smith has arrived and though I have not seen him I understand that everything here now is well in hand. That is a great load off my mind and I now can relax????? George Lundberg is giving a party tonight to which I am invited and which I shall attend (Stag) for a short while then I will be home to get some rest for I plan a Sunday of golf tomorrow if nothing turns up. I wont bet you on the score this time for I have no time since my return to get my hand back in and I am afraid that I might loose.  Winning that last bet was about all I could stand and I would hate to think of losing and being at your mercy. BOY OH BOY--. There is a dearth of rumors and without your contribution things are dull along those lines. Come across dear, lets have some.

I had another pair of shoes soled and you will be glad to know that here I paid only two and a quarter for the job. That will give you an idea of what those guys in SA are up to. Just the same it is the place for me are at least in that part of the world. How goes it in the midsummer’s heat dear. I know that you would much rather be some place else but already it is only a couple of months more to go till good old fall turns up. Do you have any new plans along this line?

If you should happen to see the Zeiglers or Myers from Victoria please get me the address of that pipe company Dick knows of for I need a new pipe stem and besides I want to have it for future use. Thanks dear. Have you heard anything more on Harmon and the reasons for his return etc. I am curious about that and there had been no speculation at all that I have heard. I hope you received that letter to him and forwarded it for me. I explained what it was to you in a previous letter.

Darling Diane I am closing this note but I love you my dearest and I wish that I was with you. Don’t be too lonesome—I sure am. Adios.
