Hello Fellows;

            Well I guess that you are thinking that it is about time that I took off enough time to write to you. Well I have a perfectly darn alibi. Ever sinci [since] I arrived here I have been busy as all get out, I am doing all of the Office work my-self and most of the tool room work, the boy in there does not know much about the paper work and I do all of the property work as well as the reports and correspondence. How is Dan making out in the office and does he like the work? I hear that Nick is a project Assistant and a Leader to boot. When are you all going to pay me that visit in that car that you were going to buy? The Model A is still in good condition and Ruby and I and the baby are taking trips on Sundays and Saturdays around the County.

            They tell me that Smith is down here and has been discharged. I’d sure like to hear all of the latest gossip, so when you answer (?) this letter (??) please send all. Tell Dan that the Sam Call that the Danville Foreman are bragging about is another Heinz. Ruby and I are going housekeeping in the Spring having our own house and furniture; we are waiting till the spring when it will be warm enough for the baby. Ruby’s aunt is letting us live in one of her houses with free rent. It’s about a half a mile from when [where] we live now.

            Truner has been fired from his job in the old camp site. (I go out there almost every Saturday afternoon and just brouze around)(Isn’t it bouwse or browse?). I haven’t the room to tell you all about this Camp so here is my condensed version.

1.      The C.O. is a prince. (Ruby and I are invited to his house in Roanoke for Sunday dinner and he may stand for the baby)

2.      I go home every night.

3.      We have three (3) hot meals every day. And I mean meals.

4.      The overhead retes a special table with an Orderly to wait on us.

5.      All of the old Foreman are here and just the same as ever.

Tell Nick to send me my stuff Collect. As soon as possible.

Say hello to Mr. Booth for me. And to Jack and all of the old fellows. I miss them all. I sure would like to hear a Yankee talk for a change. And don’t forget to tell Shade that I was asking for him. I miss him the big bum.
