Saturday Evening [December 27th, 1941]

Hello honey:

I have a date with you tonight. Do you remember? Darling if it were only real, kisses and see. But no, I just sitting up in bed with my pad and pencil Anyways, it is real to me.

Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you something. Honey, I love you.

Darling, I am not working hard anymore. Remember how I went in every morning at light. It finally got one. No more 13 hours for me, especially every day. I now realize that I was very foolish.

Janie left early today. I am not working tomorrow. One score for me. Honey, please tell me if you are coming, so that I can get time off. I want to stay with you all the time that you are here. I love you dear and don’t say not to take off, for I am. Also, we are going to get the car and stay out late. Please, dear, let’s have it this way.

Honey, I mailed a letter this morning and one this evening. I can sit down and just write are the time to the bay love oodles & oodles.

Honey, I came home and Natalie (like the girl that works at II) was in the hall, planning on going up town. Since I had your letter sealed, I decided to go along. We went all around the road, but coming back up decided on the “short cut”. All those beautiful memories came back to me of you & I. Remember how we’d stop and you’d kiss me, how we sit on the ground close together. All that was so sweet. If your arms ever around me and your lips close to mine, honey, that would be “too heavenly for words.”

Someday, darling one, you will be back and then we’ll be more happy and this separation will seem like a dream.

Christmas was very nice. You weren’t here and I thought and thought of you. Dan was asleep on Christmas day. If that was you, I’d certainly tell you something. For I’d want the whole day with you only.

My dearest love, tomorrow is Sunday and I’m going to ten o’clock mass. I’ll say a little prayer for you. Love me always, dear, and I’ll love you.

So, honey, I am closing with all my love and kisses to you. There is only one person I want in this whole wide world and it is only you. Goodnite sweetheart, and may you have sweet dreams always,

Lovingly yours

Rose
