The Russell Evans letters are fantastic because they describe the war from the perspective of someone who is getting his news while confined to the hospital. Mr. Evans had a very mysterious disease which no one was able to figure out. During his stay in the hospital, Evans wrote to his mom and also to his brother and often times had asked about how the farm was doing back home. Evans receives news about the attack on the Philippines. Before Evans was hospitalized he talks about his times in battle and the days on pass.
