Dear Folks.

Guess you think I’ve forgotten the address or something. Well I haven’t. Just been busy as a bee for a long time and expect to stay that way for some time to come. Not only that but writing is sort of hard to do over here. By now you know that I’m some where in New Guinea. Better yet I can say I’m out in the middle of the jungle. Some class.

There are lots of things I’d like to tell you but in the present time I’m afraid I cant. Nuff to say that aside from missing you all I’m in right good shape and happy as a lark. Just one big picnic? Even the ants seem to enjoy us and you never saw such big ones in your life. Mother would just love to see and hear all the beautiful birds over here. Some of them are really gorgeous.

You can now say that your son is actually in the war. More than that I can’t say except, don’t worry cause there isn’t anything to worry about as long as I keep my eyes and ears open.

There is enough work to keep me from getting bored or lazy. For which I’m thankful. To add to my amusement I’ve grown a nice red mustache and believe it or not a beautiful scarlet goatee.

My A.P.O. is now 929, everything else the same. I’ll try to write again soon and I sure like to hear from you all. If you have any fears for my health forget it. I’ve put on at least 15 lbs. And I’m feeling swell.

Say hello to all the folks in Elgely for me.

                                                                                                All my love and kisses

                                                                                                          Walt.
