Father, I am writing here to let you know that I am growing more aware of your efforts.  Now I am becoming an adult.  I am worrying about your hair’s condition.  I could not recognize you well, as I am far from you, but through the mail I can understand your situation.  I can walk as a soldier for the Japanese Empire.  Father, you have been working as a volunteer at the Uji Factory for ten days.  You are always thinking of your son.  Here in Manchu it is getting colder.  Last night I had some good news.  A friend came to meet me from Nan king and he is no problem.  If you do not hear any news from me, I am doing fine.  Recently I have received a gift from my friend who lives in an especially famous place in Japan.  I prefer rice, but my friend has sent me beans.  Sayonara.
