Friday Night

March 9, 1945

Hi Darlin!

Just a short note tonight to let you know I’m thinking of you, missing you, and loving you as always. Am pretty tired and have had a big day, and expect another one tomorrow. Had to write mother a letter tonight, too. No mail today or yesterday.

Have 26 missions now, so it won’t be so long now. Flew as deputy squadron lead bombardier today, and will be either in lead or deputy lead from now out. So, the missions won’t come as fast now, as we still have quite a few lead bombardiers in the squadron. However, the squadron bombardier and another lead bomb, finished their missions today.

Had a letter from a boy who finished bombardier school with me, and he has just arrived overseas – in England, though.  He took R.T.U. at Briggs Field in El Paso, and was by to see my aunt there several times.

Our club has gotten quite comfortable lately with several stuffed chairs and sofas – and four fireplaces. We could spend some wonderful nights on those sofas in front of the fireplace. Saw a movie there last night which was strictly a class B, or lower picture “My Pal, Wolf” with Una O’Connor all about a kid and a dog. We are having a dance there tomorrow night.

Did mother write you about finding a leather jacket somewhere. I asked her to try to get me one, as most everyone who doesn’t have one is trying to have one sent from home, several have already gotten them from home. She tried in Richmond, but they told her the only place she could get one would be at an Air Base PX. I don’t think any PX’s handle them, so if there isn’t any in town, don’t bother about trying any PX.

Darling, I must say goodnight, so until the next time, be good, stay sweet as ever, miss me, and write often. Am missing you and loving you as always and forever.

                                                                                    All my love,

                                                                                                Jimmy
