Monday night-

March 19, 1945

Hi darlin’,

Am happy once again, having received your letter of Mar. 10th yesterday. Would have answered yesterday, but had a practice mission, and went to church and orientation flims afterwards. So it was pretty late when I got back to the tent. Your last was #29, so I think I’m up – to – date on them. Hate to get current, for then it’s so long before I get anymore.

Well, I’m back in combat again, having put in my 27th mission. It was to Landshut, Germany, and a milk run (no flak). Flew as lead bombardin in the second squadron, and scored another bit. Believe I’ll be flying all of my missions in the lead position from here out. Would rather fly on the wing, though, as it is too much responsibility, and I don’t fly as often now. John has 30 missions, and Hughes 27, and Mirowski 21.

That caricature you sent of Major Coggeshall certainly does look like him. “Our boss” certainly did set himself up in a nice spot. Would like to trade places with him for awhile. But then, if I was that near to you I’d never do any work – and what’s wrong with that?

Huges and I just got back from a U.S.O Show in the Cave Theater. Am for a change, it was pretty good. The stars of the show were the Kim-Lo Sisters (Chinese - American). I believe that’s the correct spelling. I’m sure you’ve heard of them for I did when I was in the States. They sing in the Andrews Sisters style, and are really “groovey”. Some of the pieces they sang are, “The Trolley Song”, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”, “China-town”, and a couple I can’t remember. Also in the show were a fine tap dancer (female), a male vocalist, a unicyclist, and a couple of other women who assisted.

Please don’t worry about the jacket anymore. I’m sorry I caused you so much trouble looking all over the town for it. I didn’t realize it would be such an undertaking. Guess I’ve been away from the States or sumpin! Look, just forget it all, and maybe I can pick one up when I get home. I hope I don’t sound rude for I don’t mean to be. I think you are sweet as can be for going to so much trouble.

Did you have a big time at the Camp Pat dance last week-end? You aren’t trying to make me jealous or homesick are you? – All kidding aside, I’m glad you have time for a little recreation now and then – Just don’t have too much fun.

Had a letter from Auntie yesterday, also. She said Cecelia is home now and hoping Alfred can get home from P.O.E. – Pretty rough, huh? I would still trade it for this life I’m leading now. – How about you?

Darling, I’ll just have to close for tonight, as it’s getting late; I’m tired, etc. Please forgive me, as I would love to talk to you all night every night. Will go to bed and dream about you, instead.

Be good, stay as sweet as you are, miss me, and write everyday. Am missing you and loving you with all my heart.

All my love,

Jimmy
