Dear Mom;

It certainly has been a great day today because we did something to break our usual routine. We went swimming in a little lake about an hour’s walk from camp. It was great fun splashing around in the water again a lay off of a year. We really swam three times, once walking on the way, once in the lake then again on the way back. You will understand that when I tell you the sun was shining bright and hot all the time. We were walking and we were climbing up and down hills on the way to and from.

How is every one at home, Mom? Is Eddie still sick with the measles? Herm seemed to think that Daniel would come down with them. I hope not because she certainly had her hands full with Eddie.

It’s about time for lights out so I will cut this short with,

Good night, Mom and

God bless you, Joe
