Dear Mary and all,

A few lines this evening to let you know that I’m still over here, well, and getting along fine. Hope this finds all of you the same, we got our Thanksgiving turkey’s in today but we only get three fifths of a pound apiece so that isn’t so very much. I’ll probably be one of the unlucky ones and get a neck or a tail one. It’s been so long now since I’ve sat down to a home cooked meal that I’ve almost forgotten what one is but I could really go for one now. That’s one advantage of living on a farm, you can eat what you want and when you like it. The next time you and Russell get up home would you ask him to take a look at my new rifle and see that it isn’t ruined as it’s a darn gun. Hope he doesn’t mind my asking. Well space is gone so I’ll go for now.

Love to all. Roland.
