England

Dear Mary and all:

Received your V-letter today and very glad to hear from you. I’m well and getting along fine so I don’t guess I have any complaints. Hope this finds all of you in good health. Just now came back from playing a concert in the town hall for some sort of an agricultural show. It was rather chilly in the hall and this was one time I was glad when they served us tea. Even though I don’t like it much it did help to keep me warm. They had a good crowd but I don’t see why as it wasn’t anything there but some flowers and vegetables. Nothing exciting at all happened and never does. We had a fire in our barracks the other evening while we were out and if it hadn’t have been put out when it was we would have been out of luck as the whole thing would have went. It did burn part of the roof away and it’s darn cold sleeping now with the air blowing in. Was to London a few days ago and had a fine time even though my stay was short. Got caught in another raid but it didn’t amount to much. Space is gone so I’ll close for this time. Love to all, Roland.
