Thursday evening

Dear Tom:

Just a little note from your brother to let you know that everything is fine. England agrees with me in every respect and I am quite content. Feeling great believe me.

I received word from Dad today that you were being transferred from Rodwan. Dad said that he didn’t know where you were going but I hope you are still near Estette and Dennis. In case you are not I want you to give me your new address as soon as you can. Perhaps if you are coming overseas we will have a chance to meet. If you do end up in England we will have to get together without delay. It has been over seven months since we saw the Yankees play in the stadium.

Dad mentioned in his letter that you were concerned about me. I don’t want you to be worrying about me Tom as I am going to take good care of myself. I want you to concentrate on yourself – Estette and Dennis want their Dad back home as soon as they can. Remember that now. We both are looking forward to the day when we can take Dennis out to Eastside Park and have him hit fungos out to us. I bet he will be good too as he has a powerful pair of hands. He grabs your finger and holds on to it for dear life.

Did you get the V-mail I sent to you as Washington and Lee? I sent it about the last of February so you should have had it forwarded to you by this time. I have received three letters in all from you and I enjoyed reading them. Despite your modesty, I think you are a darn good letter writer. Don’t be so shy about your writing.

Well Tom if you did go over I hope you had luck and got home before you left. I hope however that you are still in the states – leave this globe – trotting for us single chaps.

Incidentally I have an appointment to meet my old friend Simpson in London on the 27th and 28th of this month. I haven’t seen him in over 18 months, ever since he was inducted so I am looking forward to seeing him. Can’t you picture the two of us sight-seeing in London!!

Good luck Tom and take good care of yourself.

                                    Your brother,

                                                Joe
