            My Dear,

Loving wife while [I’m] sitting here all sad and blue, thinking of you, I thought that I would address you a few lines just to let you know that I have not forgot[ten] you. It looks like you have forgot[ten] me, but I know how it is with someone when they are on the [verge] of quitting one for another one. But, you just do as you wish to I guess you know what you are doing. I can’t do anything about it, and if I live I won’t  try to for I am going to try and redeem myself and not lie [illegible word] any more. And I’m going to make the best of life that I can. Have you been back over to Philadelphia to the doctor that you were going [to] when we were up there? It looks like you would let know if you are sick or what is the trouble. I am not going to write you next Sunday. I am writing to my dear little sister. She is the only that tiny to help me and you for your part, I know how it is with you; it takes all you have for yourself. Closing with a heart full of love: many kisses xxxxxxxxx From James Harrell
