Monday Night.

Dearest Jane:

Hello honey. How are you tonight? Fine I hope. How has Jr. feeling? I am feeling ok only I am pretty lonesome.

Received your letter with the pictures. Will send them back in the letter. They were pretty good weren’t they?

Honey. I am going to California I went to see about the exam and they said to go to California and then take it out there so it wouldn’t get mixed up. But don’t worry about it because Colonel Smith said he was going to see that I went to school and to see him when we got there. Can’t say when we leave because of army regulations, but will write you from the grain so you will know. Did you get my address in California? Will give it to you again in case you lost it.

Honey we will be about 3 hours by train from Los Angeles so I am going to take my three day pass I got for shooting and go see Marie and Art. Tell Mother or Dad to give you their address and send it to me in the first letter you send to California Sergeant Eubanks said I could go. So I will go the first payday. Honey did you ever get your money? If not contact the treasury department there and tell them you haven’t received it and they will send it to you. Be sure and do that and let me know if you get it. Sweet, I guess I will stop now. Will write again tomorrow night. Haven’t had much time to write since I got back, we have been so busy getting ready to move that I haven’t had much time. Will try to do better. Donnie was here Saturday. She said be sure and write her.

Will stop now honey. Be sure and take care of yourself and remember I love you with all my heart. Also Jr. too.

Lots of love,

Clive.

Monday Night.

Dear Mother and Dad and Sybil:

Guess you though I wasn’t going to write didn’t you? Have been so busy getting ready to move I haven’t had much time. I am going to California. Will take exam when I get there. Colonel Smith said to wait until we got there and he would see to it that I made the school. So don’t worry about any thing because I will be ok.

Send me Marie and Art’s address in Los Angeles. I have a three-day pass coming and Sergeant Eubanks said I could go when we got there. We will be just 3 hours from them by train. My address in California is:

            36th Armed Inf. Regt.

            Rice, California

How are you both feeling? Hope you are ok. I am alright. Hated to come back, but everything will be ok. Take care of yourselves Jane and Sybil. Tell Sybil I think Bob is ok. He will make a pretty good brother in law. Tell her I will write as soon as I get more time. Mother and Dad, I will stop. Now, will write again real soon. Send me Marie’s address to the address I gave you in California.

Be good and don’t work too hard and worry too much.

Love to all of you.

Clive.

P.S. Am sending this in Jane’s letter to save stamps.
