Dear Bill & Family:-

Received your fine package OK and just as I was started a trek to part’s new and unknown all the things were welcome and have given me a great amount of pleasure. I am well and damn dirty we jump almost every day into new territory and the places are badly perched about our hurricane was bad but there are frightful at this moment Ive just set up my office in a Burgermeister and much to his annoyance and guess I move again by noon tomorrow the enclosed are German ration stamps my men are all in one piece so far but I’ve lost track of my Regt for fair we get no mail yet and know that it’s very difficult to have it come to us because of the distances and quick moves occurring all the time. thank God the weather holds good and it’s not very cold in fact the last few days it’s so dusty that I’ve eaten my peck of dirt each day before noon. now Bill I am terribly obligated to you and your fine family. how I can even repay you I don’t know but if God let’s me live, I’ll try someway. I hope you are all well and happy. I think of you and Westbrook very often and wish to God I was back there but guess we have a job to do here first, so for now good luck and God bless you all.

Your friend

John a.
