Dear Mom & Dad,

I have been getting your letters fine but haven’t had time to answer them.

Just thought I would tell you I am leaving for New River in the morning at 4 A.M. We get up at 2 A.M. Eat at 3 A.M. and get dressed by 4 A.M. From what we’ve been told lately we probably won’t get a furlough. They will probably make us wait till after our training up there. Everything has been swell down here. We got paid again the other day. Sunday was a real busy day around here. After church I had to wash my clothes. Then I had to press my blouse and then sew up the holes in my socks. That was quite a full day. Then today we had to pack our sew bag and get ready to go. Well it is almost time for the lights to go out and I don’t know anything else to tell you so I will stop now. Just don’t look for me home because I don’t think I will get one.

            How is Dad and Spot.

I hope he got the Pocket Book finished alright.

With love

Your son

Joe
