Dear Mother and Dad,

I actually found time to write you tonight. I have four letters to answer. I sure am glad to hear from you so often. I received a letter from Preston, Dr Mury, Gladys, Sis and Dot Albert. I received a Valentine from Aunt Maude. Tell Mr. Connevey this paper sure is coming in handy.

Did Dad ever get the Pocket Book finished yet or is he still working on it?

Well I guess Sunday was pretty quiet with Dad and Spot sleeping. I miss the Sunday Funnies. In fact I guess it is quiet around there all the time. No one to be running in and messing the house up, especially on Friday and Saturday night.

You didn’t tell me before that Mr. Donald and Mr. Conner had bought Mr. Moors stove.

I have thought about St. Smith quite a few times. I often intended to write and find out about him but I always forget it. He was really a swell guy. His wife was really friendly too.

Mother I have answered aunt Maude’s Letter.

How is dad’s cold getting along? I hope it is better. Tell dad I am also glad Spot got all right.

If either one of them were out here at the range he wouldn’t have time to get sick. Up here you go out and shoot whether it rains or shines. When you lay in that wet sand you practically freeze but you wait from one day to the next and shoot the 30-caliber rifle. It’s really a swell rifle.

It is now Feb. 11, 44

I had to stop and go to bed last night. It is now one o’clock and it is right after chores. It is pouring down rain and it thundered once. That is the first time I ever heard it thunder. On a cloudy day it just starts raining anytime without notice. There is always a strong damp wind blowing in from the Sea. It makes my rifle zag all over the target.

I had to read that clipping over twice. I thought I had misread it when they said only three guys graduated.

I don’t know whether you remember or not but the night I had the League program that Chinese student Patrick Ha-Hoiung gave a talk on China. I got to know him real well. [Censored]

I received another letter from you today and one from Julia. I sure was glad to get them. Julia told me all the school news. It seems that the entire sleigh riding weather came after I left. There is no hurry about selling my bike if doesn’t have time to fix it up. Am glad Spot is all right.

            Tell Sena I said, “Hello.”

In 19 more days I hope to be coming home. I think we leave on the 29th. It will take 2 days to go and come so I won’t have but 6 days at home.

Well I guess I had better stop now and answer Julia’s letter.

            Will write you again Sunday.

                                    With Love

                                    Your Love

                                    Joe.

P.S. I am learning to do everything right handed around here. I even shoot the rifle right handed. I also box right handed.
