Dear Mom & Dad,

Do you remember what happened a month ago today? It was Christmas Day and Mary & Liz & Paul & Bernice & Preston were up home. Julia was also up there. I couldn’t begin to name the ones that were up there the night before Christmas.

Even when I come home I will have to roll my blankets up and bring them with me.

I hope you get along at the store all right.

We have fish every Friday. There is nothing but lake around here and they have some salt water in them that has backed up from the ocean. You can see the ocean from here. We are practically set out in the water away from civilization except fro a P.X. to start the day off now we get up at 5:30 and go out for roll call then we go back make our bunks up. Then we sweep and mop the floor and clean and put rifles together and get ready for breakfast by 6:45. After breakfast we have physical ed. Then we march with our rifles. Then we have a lecture and then we march with our rifles some more till dinnertime. We do the same thing in the evening. That’s all we do in a day except sometimes we have to carry every thing out of the hut in the morning and air it till that evening and then carry it back in the evening.

Well I’ll stop now because it’s getting late.

With Love,

Your Son

Joe.
