June Fourteenth

Dear Mom,

I’m Charge of Quarters tonight so I have a chance to catch up on my correspondence – I wrote you last night but didn’t have an air mail envelop with me so I sent it regular mail- you’ll probably get this letter first.

Haven’t been doing much of anything for amusement lately – spent most of my time off catching up on my sleep – My platoon had a party the other night in the mess hall – we had a good time – The cooks baked a big chocolate cake and we had beer and soda (that’s very rare here) – we danced with some of the nurses and I think that everyone really enjoyed himself.

We had a parade the other day for “Salute the Soldier” week – a sort of war loan drive – I wasn’t in it myself as I was K.P. but the reviewing stand was just across the street from the mess hall and I had a rooftop view of the whole thing – Our unit marched in the parade – The whole town turned out to see it ––––

Had a letter from Bobbie today and will try to answer it tonight.  She says “Ten Nights” is going strong.  That’s really quite a show – It’s been running a long time now –

I’ll close for tonight and try to write a few other letters I owe.  Good night –––

                                                                                                Love
