France – the twenty second

Dear mom –

I just have a moment to answer you’re letter I received today. I certainly was glad to hear you were able to pay Uncle Jim the $100. It was grand of him to lend it at the time he did. It really came in handy. I’m glad I could help repay it too.

You said my bank account would be $110 when you received the $30 I sent last month. I am sending $20 as I wrote you the other day – and have made arrangements to have $25 of the pay I will receive this month sent to you. That will make it $155 which isn’t bad for a start.

I had a letter from Alma and I’m answering it tonight. It was a nice letter. I think a lot of Alma. It was swell of her to write.

I haven’t heard from Gene since I wrote you. I got a couple of delayed letters from him. Hope he is ok.

Tell Ginny that my mustache is in fine flower and that I had a picture taken today. If it comes out good I’ll shave it off but I must see the proof first. It would be too much trouble to start all over again.

I’ll write again when I have a chance. So long for now.

                        Love
