Dear Mom,

Just a line to let you know that everything is OK.  I’m still keeping pretty busy – but I do have a little more time now.

I had a letter from you yesterday that was written when you were at Aunt Kate’s – I also received my Alumni Bulletin from the U of R.  I was glad to get that and learn about all the fellows – Incidentally J.C. Ball (English prof) is a Sgt in England and Skinner (German prof - PhD no less) a corporal in the Southwest Pacific – as the French put it “C’est la guerre!” –

Holland seems better than when we first moved in – I’ll still take Belgium tho over all the countries I’ve been in – Including England –

I certainly was sorry to hear that Mason Vines was killed in France – I know that Bernice was broken up about it for she thought so much of him – I want to write to her but its awfully hard to write a letter like that –

That’s all for this time – I’ll write again when I have the chance –

                                                Love

                                                            Jack –

P.S. Let me know when the packages come thru – I still haven’t received the packaged from Anne and her mother -
