                                                                                                                 Holland --

Dear Mom—

I have a few minutes to drop a line before I hit the hay – I’m pretty tired tonight – had a busy day – from the news we hear it’s going fairly well now – Heard tonight that the British had made a new landing in Holland to cut off German troops in that area and to relieve the pressure on the Canadians on the flank – I wish I had time to follow the news more carefully we had more time back in France—

I got my ballot off today – so I have voted in my first presidential election – and from Holland – peculiar isn’t it –

Had a letter from you today with the news that Henry Fennell is married – I’m amazed – I just hadn’t even given it a thought at all -- it seems strange that all this is happening while I’m away – I wonder if I’ll find its changed much when I come back home? We’ll all be older in a different sort of way – I hope it wont be too long –

I’m listening to the World Series while writing this letter – and I’m in the Recreation Room we have in the hospital – It’s nice to have a place like this – Wish I had more time to spend here – we’ve been overseas 6 months – Sometimes it seems longer and then again it seems like only yesterday ----

Had a letter from Alma and she sent pictures taken at Va Beach – It really looked good – I really would like to spend another summer there like I used to – it was really wonderful

Good night now – must go to bed

                                                                                                Love,

                                                                                                            Jack
