Dear Mom –

Received your letter today Sept. 26 you said you had received my letter about the package and I hope it gets there ok.  The second package I sent may arrive before the first because it was sent first class mail, and the first one was not.  I wrote a letter about the contents of the 2nd package too so you’ll know what to do with the stuff.

I’m enclosing a sample of the money we are now paid with.  It is “invasion money” issued by the U.S.  It is German currency.  Also I’m sending some French invasion money, French issue money and Belgian money.  The French Franc is worth 2c of U.S. money; the Belgian Franc is just about the same.  880 Belgian francs = 1000 French Francs.  The mark is worth 10c.

I had $15 of September’s pay sent to you directly.  I’ll arrange to send to you most of this month’s pay too.  We have little use for money here.

Had a nice shower today and I’m not quite to tired tonight.  I want to answer Gene’s letter tonight.  I heard from him a couple of days ago.  I haven’t received your package as yet but I guess I will in time.

I’m listening to the radio and we’ve got some good music on and a comedy program with Cass Daley.  I don’t get much time to listen to the radio, but I do enjoy it.  Picked up Bins tonight singing “Swing My Way”

Keep the letters coming, tell Ginny to write too.  Say hello to Tucker for me.

                                                                                    Love,
