The twenty eighth of October

Dear Mom-

No mail at all today, but maybe tomorrow will bring a couple of letters. I certainly was glad to get your letter and find that my package arrived. The first package had more things in it, but didn’t go first class mail- I certainly do hope it gets there for the things I sent were of great value to me as mementos of England, France, and Belgium.

I went to one of the nearby towns today to “parley” for some electrical equipment we need for the operation of the hospital. It was quite a successful trip- got just about everything we needed.

I’m still a little bit surprised about Anne’s sudden marriage, but it’s the way I wanted it. I told her before I left that I was not in any position to make up my mind about marriage- I knew it would be better that way, but I really didn’t think she would marry. I’m glad she did, it makes it much easier for the both of us.

I don’t know whether I told you or not, but your mail is coming thru very well- of course you have to expect some irregularity in the dates, but I get these from each week in the month, which is the rate you said you were writing.

Gene’s letter was very amusing and interesting as usual. He puts his personality into a letter- I wonder if he’ll remember that loud tie.

I’ll say so long for a while now. My best to everyone at home-

                        Love,

                                    Jack
