Germany

Dear Chum-

Well it really was good news to hear that you finally made it home!  Hope you have a swell leave – and that you paint the countryside a light pink.  I have great plans to do the same e’re I set foot on home shores once more-

Wish you would write and let me know where you’ve been and what you’ve been doing since we last met.  It’s been a “long time between beers”.  I know security was tight and all that so let me in on some of the highlights will you-

I wrote you at your old address and asked a favor – doubt if you’ve received the letter as yet – Will you go by to see Edna Howard at the U.S.O. or 1113 Grove Avenue.  Take her to lunch or something for me.  She’s been swell to me – and I think a lot of her – So will you do that chum?  Thanks a million –

Things here in Germany are as quiet and peaceful as your own back yard – perhaps more so – We’re busy at the moment but will soon evacuate all our patients soon – the weather is swell and Germany is really beautiful – Doubt if you saw any of it – I’m glad I had the chance – The armies are really moving ahead and we all have hopes that we’re in the closing days of this war – the Pacific looms ahead – you said you don’t think we’ll see it – Perhaps but I wouldn’t put any money on that.  The CBI is still wide open too -

Don’t forget that letter with the details.  I’ll have to wait to tell you mine but I hope it won’t be too long –

            So long for the nonce-

                        Jackson
