June 5th

Dear Mom –

Your letter of May 29th came today in record time – you said you had received my Mother’s Day letter and the one enclosed –

About this “blue envelope” stuff – Perhaps I didn’t make it quite dear – I’ll try to explain again – At the present our mail is not censored by “unit censors” (that is our own officers) But is sealed and sent as we write.  It is subject to a spot check by the “base censor” Formerly however it was censored by our own officers – every letter and therefore I could not mention Marjorie – There was such a thing though as a “ Blue Envelope” which was designed for use on occasions where the writer did not care to have his officers read what he wrote – Because of supply problems it was often difficult to set one of these envelopes – but  on one occasion I did mail one and it was in that letter that I told you of Marjorie – Perhaps the letter is opened and then readdressed – put in another envelope I don’t know – at any rate it was that type I used when I first mentioned her.  I didn’t mean that you needed one to write her – but that you could say I had used one in writing you so she would know how I had let you know.

I wrote another letter after the one you have already received and told you I thought it would be best to send me the letter - in an envelope – open – and enclosed in one of may litters – so I could read your letter – then seal it and give it to her – I think that is best – Perhaps you’ve already written –

She’s awfully sweet mom – you’d like her I know – and though as I told you she is not mine she has been grand to me – and I love for it – Enough of that – How’s everything at home – Hope Ginnie is feeling better – and that you are too – Having teeth worked on is no fun I know – for I’m in the midst of it now I’m almost done – the dentist is a good one – and he’s putting my teeth in good shape –

Saw a grand movie tonight – C. Colbert in “Practically Yours” – I really enjoyed it – Hope we have more as good as that –

I’m going to mail you a package with some more pictures & some souvenirs and odds & ends in it – Some of the pictures are new – some are duplicates of those I have already sent – You can look them over and give the duplicates to anyone you like – Aunt Kate or Aunt Eva or Aunt Hettie might like to have some of them – Just be sure I have good copies of each at home – We are not very busy at the moment with our hospital work – but are getting ready for inspection of equipment soon – and it’s quite a job to get it all in order –

I haven’t learned anymore about the schooling system – but imagine it will be forth coming soon – I would like the opportunity to go to school over here if I’m going to stay any length of time –

I’ll close for tonight – keep writing often -----

                                                                                    Love
