Dear Mom-

Just a line to say that everything is going along ok. We’re not working very hard. Have only a few patients in the hospital. I’m on duty tonight and I’m catching up on my correspondence.

Went to a U.S.O show yesterday in Suhl about 15 miles from here. It was fairly good. Saw a movie today. Went up to the swimming pond and watched the kids swim. The country around here is beautiful. Many resorts are located near here. Still it’s awfully lonesome. I never knew how true it was when Cheatham wrote that you could live thru it if you could stand looking at the same faces.

The situation as to what will happen to us is vague. It now looks like we may stay over here in the Army of Occupation- Ten Field Hospitals will stay- and there are only about twenty here so far as I know. If we do stay I’m going to try to go to school in England of France. They are going to have some of the Universities open for study. Perhaps by the first of July we’ll know more about it for that is when they’ve scheduled to open.

I wonder where Gene is now? It’s been over 6 weeks now since he left the states.

So long for this time- write often- your mail is coming thru in record time- 6 days usually.

            Love

Jack
