Dear Ginnie,

You letter came yesterday – and only yours – the day before I received 19 after not having any mail for a month or so – Believe it or not I answered all the mail (of course some of it was from the same person- but I whipped off seven and this is number eight) The home front seem to be getting along OK – as is the Pacific H. Eugene is doing all right it seems. Had a letter from him and one mom enclosed – Also heard from several of my “floozies” as Gene puts it – He sent me some copies of the picture I have at home- saying I might wish to give them to these “floozies”-

Things here have been rather quiet-but tomorrow we start training program-hikes, classes, drill calisthenics etc. designed theoretically to keep us occupied but to us it’s a nescience. I think the time could be much better spent in swimming, fishing, and instruction in something that would be helpful rather than “Use & Care of the Gas Mask”. Usually when something like this happens we beat down on the instructors until they give it up as a bad job- we’ll see how it works out-

We had hoped to run a trip to the Alps for skiing and winter sports but nothing definite on that yet- we’ve seen some good movies and concerts lately- but I’d trade the whole works for a short trip home-

Take care of everything- I’ll try to get back before I grow a long white beard- I hope so at least

            Love

Jack-
