Desert Training Center California

Hello Dot.

Well, honey, we have arrived out in New Jersey. It’s a swell camp with two story barracks. There's hot and cold water and [illegible] all fresh food. We are off that C and B ration, that’s that canned ration. Don’t no about that priest but it wasn’t quite that bad. He didn’t have all the training we had. It wasn’t quite that rough on us. But it was plenty tough but not that bad. Hell you can’t blame all of Cal for that one section.

Well so for don’t no what is next. We get a lot of firing and such but I like that so it’s just what we all need. No it only took us four and one half day on all fast trains. We had good beds every night. I am about 350 miles from Erie. I will stay the way I am for the duration. Hell don’t no what the hell you are worrying about.

Tell Gordon I said with a wife like he’s got he needs the luck. I got the cards O.K. Is that all the damn questions? I put on about 15 lbs on the Desert so it couldn’t have been as bad as you were worrying about. Haha. Don’t no what the hell you are going to do when I go over. All that dam worrying about a little desert. HAH NUTS Vin will find out a thing or two. Hope he don’t flow his top. Tell Ma I said hello will write as soon as I get a chance. But right now have about nine letters to answer. Answer them as I get them. First come first served. HAHA

Don’t bank on any furlough. Don’t think I will get one. I may be able to get a three day pass. But I'm not sure of that. So till I find out more we’ll just write. Tell Sis and Shirley and the little man I love them all. Tell old Gordon not to worry I can take it. And you quit worrying. Loads of love your brother,
