Dot the best way to answer that letter is to feel sorry for them both. That way if they go back together your neck isn’t stuck out. Ha ha.
It doesn’t seem possible that Shirley is in high school. Tell her to study real hard and her uncle loves her.
To old Sis, just tell her to get in there and pitch. She will be over there in another year. Tell her that, when I get home, I will walk to school with her myself. Ha ha. They will sit up when she and I come to school. I will hang all my medals on just for her. Ha ha. Tell her not to get too big so she can sit on my lap. By the time this war is over, I will be kind of old and weak. I may have to sit in the old rocking chair. Ha ha Tell her not to worry. She will make it OK.
The guy is young yet got his whole life ahead of him. But, if he has to lose her, I hope it’s now and not later. After a break like this, I don’t think they will ever get along well again. He’s too much like Kate. I have to bring it up later on.

Well Dot about poor old Vin. I new that was coming so I wasn’t much surprised. I didn’t know about the other guy. I don’t think that’s the only reason she is calling it quits. He tried to run her like he did the sisters. Also there’s too much mother trouble there. She told me once that she didn’t know how much more she could stand. Mary thought a lot of that guy, but you know old Vin, the big boss at all times. It just didn’t work with her. I don’t say it’s all his fault. The biggest mistake he made was when he married her. That family is all a little nuts. They think they are just a little better than us common folks. It’s just too bad it had to happen now. It will make him feel kind of low and picked on where he is. Sure hope he [edited for content] up if he loses her. But he will get over it.
Don’t worry I get enough to eat. It’s the sweet things we miss the most. About that sleeping on the ground. Ha. When I get back, I don’t think I will ever use a bed. Ha ha. That’s going to be too damn soft. When you say any thing to us about a bed, I think you better explain what one looks like. Ha ha.
About that address stuff. That’s my base address at your place. So that’s why you get all those letters for Marie. Ha ha. I guess they don’t trust me. Ha ha.
Well, I bet you had a good visit at old Jared’s. That old boy will outlive us all. I’m glad he quit drinking. It will make it easier for her. She had her troubles with him.
That old guy still farming. Those broncos will be the death of him. Those eyes of his have been bad for a long time.
Don’t worry about me so damn much. If you want to worry about something, worry about the Japs and Germans. I don’t know why you worry. We aren’t losing any sleep over them.
