Germany,

12 June 1945

Dear Mom,

Got your letter yesterday. Was glad to hear from you.

Things are about the same as usual with me here.

It has been raining quite a lot here today. We get quite a lot of rain.

Went out for a walk with another fellow tonight. Went down toward a town man here. The road is pretty badly bombed. Our planes sure done a job here.

Seems that the Jerries had plenty of planes, but no gas to get them into the air with.

Guess I will be over here for quite a spell, Mom. I’ve heard rumors about army of occupation, but of course nobody knows.

I would just as soon be here as in the S. Pacific. Of course a thirty day furlough at home would be nice, but the next time I go home I want to stay there.

            Well, write soon,

                        Love, John

P.S. They have changed our address again as you see.
