Dear Billy:

Hiya, Honey Chile:

I mailed you another package on Monday containing a Schrafft’s Fruit Cake, two different kinds of fudge and a little maple sugar soldier. I sure hope they deliver this package. I don’t mind a package going astray every once in a while, but at the moment there are four packages which are on the way to you, in addition to the one I just mailed, which you haven’t received yet. As I said in a previous letter, if you have received the packages in question and the letters in which you acknowledged them went astray, let me know again so that I can check them off my list. I’ll give you the dates again:

3/14 – Turkey Spread, Candy, Tobacco, etc.

5/11 – White tennis Jacket and candy

5/29 – Smithfield Ham Spread, Cheese, Crackers, Nuts, 2 Films and Candy

6/15 Fruit Cake, Tobacco and Candy

We had a letter from Heltie yesterday and he said he had mailed the film to you. As I said in my letters of last Saturday, I won’t send the camera until I received the book of instructions. I have already written for it but it has to come from Michigan, so it will take a few days. I asked the post office if, not that the war in Europe was over, they would insure packages but they said they wouldn’t, so I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed that the camera reaches you all right.

Mother received your letter of July 15^th on Monday. From your description of Bastille Day, it really must have been something. They had a little bit about it in one of the newsreels, but not very much. From what little they did know, however, it looked as though the people were really having themselves a gay time.

I’m so glad you have sent your pictures. I’m so anxious to see them. I have a little leather case about 2^nd square which I carry in my bag, in which is a picture of you and one of Heltie. The one of you is the one you had taken up on Broadway when Bill Parker had his taken – remember? When we receive the pictures which you had taken over there, I’m going to see if my friend up in the photographic department of the sun can make me another one small enough to fit in my little leather case. I hope so because the one in have really isn’t too good.
