Dear Joe,

Sunday I thought of you when I attended Father Thomas Summer’s Mass. Your little brother led the procession and I was very happy to see him there. I hope you see to it, Joe, that he remains a faithful altar boy.

Father Moore visited one of the priests in Petersburg during the past week and I saw him. He asked for you I told him I had heard from you and from several boys who went to Saint Pats.

Joe, I pray for you every day. I know your life is hazardous but God is good and all will turn out for the best.

I do not know just where you will be at Christmas but I do want you to know, Joe, that I shall pray very especially for you at the midnight Masses.

I know you are rejoicing at the honor conferred upon your good Pastor, Father Brennan. I received a letter from Paul O’Keiffe and he expressed how much he would like to be home for Father’s investiture.

God keep you always a good boy and protect you from harm.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Sister Vincent
