Melvin Meyer

Dear Mother:

It has been raining in East Texas a lot to but not much here.

I explained in another letter what I want done with that money and a bond wouldn’t do me a bit of good.

The money from the other bonds will be returned in about 6 months, the bonds will also come in the same length of time.

I got cards from you, Mary Lou, and Emily Roesner so far.

I’ve never written a letter to Audrey either so that’s that.  I’m afraid the same holds true in my case and everyone else in my army.  “Out of sight, out of mind.”  A girl to date is just a past time while you’re in the town, that’s all.

I’ll have a nice birthday as long as these guys around here don’t find out about it.  If they do plenty of tricks will be played.

I’ll look up the fellow this afternoon.  What does he do in S.A.?

Africa is out of action now and soon the mainland will be too.

It is a misty morning out at this time but it won’t last long the way it looks now.

                                                                                    So long,

                                                                                       Melvin
