Hi Chief, Ol Keed,

I received your letter the other day and was very glad to hear from you.

Boy when you talk about it being cold up there I want to trade some of this heat for some nice cold weather. Right now it is about 9:00 o’clock [on] Friday evening and the temperature is 85° and there is no breeze blowing so you can see how hot it is.

Say, guess what? I had chance to repaint my motorcycle the other day and I guess you know that most all army vehicles have some sort of a nickname painted on. Well I got permission to change the name on mine to “Chief”. So now I have my motorcycle named after you.

You often say in your letters for me to remember you once in a while, well believe me, I do. I lay down at nights and think of those swell times I had out at your place. I really enjoyed them although I know you didn’t sometimes. Boy, I can remember those nights I use[d] to torment you, and how mad you use[d] to get. Also those tickling contests we use[d] to have and also I miss that back scratcher of mine.

Well Chief, I surely have been having a lot of fun with my cycle lately. We do a lot [of] cross country riding and some day[s] we ride formation about 60 or 70 miles practicing roadblocks and different things. We are going to sneak a camera out with us someday and take some action shots. I’ll send you some if we take them.

Well Chief, I’ll sign off now.

            Goodnight and think of me.
