Dear Father

Always I have had a warm spot in my heart for the Union Pacific Railroad. Perhaps the main reason was the #6 per share. Now I have had a chance to see its lines and rolling stock. It is a good road. My chief complaint is that next to the Pennsylvania it is the dirtiest road. Last night I managed to dig out better than a pound of coal dust. I don’t think that there is much of this left but it probably will get down to the law of diminishing returns. The dining car service of on the [censored] was a good deal as well. The only thing that I can figure that I need is some Gillette blades. I have about six packages but I don’t believe that they would last too long. In my usual style I goofed off and didn’t bring a good supply last November. Instead I put off and now they are an unknown quantity.

I had planned to use airmail but now I’ll be damned if I can find the damn stamp.
