Deer Mother and Father

Instead of being with my organization I am now in the 172 Staten Hospital in Tokyo. Wednesday night I was on guard in the motor pool. It was cold. Thursday morning I had a lot of red blotches in my mouth. The dentist sprayed them with hydrogen peroxide but they continued. About 4:30 I began to have chills at 6 I had 102.8 [fever] but was cold, shivering. The doctor figures I might have pneumonia, malaria or trench mouth. He shipped me here quickly. I got here I had 103.8 (about 8 pm). An hour later I had 104.5. At midnight they started to work with penicillin every 3 hours (my rear is sore by now). My temperature is down to 99. My mouth is sore but improving, somewhere I picked up the above mentioned animal. Where, your guess is as good as mine. That impelego on Okinawa was another of those things. My luck was bad. I am alive and happy. What more can you ask.

Before I left, I opened the Christmas letter from your people. Thank you. I believe I saw a money order but I was so darn sick that I couldn’t be sane. It may be a while before I write again because facilities are poor here as you see.

I am having a lot of fun with the nurses just as I did in the Baker. Another case where a lamb gets away with murder in the midst of howling wolves. One of the nurses is a cousin of one of those girls. I am at home.

Oh yes I am on a liquid diet. May get back my girlish figure yet.

                                                                                    Love
