            Dearest Clara,

I will drop you a few lines to let you know that I am fine, and sure hope you are the same darling, I waited a few days before I started writing so I would have something to write about out here it’s the same thing all the time. I wish I could explain it more thoroughly to you, but it is out of the question Honey, which you know. Darling I am on the ocean, and still with some of the fellows I left camp with all of us are trying to enjoy our selves the best we know how, but there just isn’t much we can do.

Darling I want you to take my good care of your self, and I’ll do my best to take good care of my self for you, from now on Honey I’ll write every day while I’m on the seas. So write to me every day and I’ll do my very best to get them around.

With love and kisses my darling wife Clara, Johnny S.
