Dearest Clara,

Well honey, I worked all day, had a nice bath, and got my head washed. I feel pretty good this evening, it isn’t quite dark yet, about 18 hours difference between your time and ours. When we were coming across I liked to wear my watch out tuning it up and back. It still keeps good time though. We had a mail call but very few letters, I didn’t happen to get any tonight, I should tomorrow. I hope! How is Grandma getting along, I should be getting some mail from your Mother and Jane pretty soon now. I imagine everything is quiet everywhere now isn’t it? I have to write another letter pretty soon. I bet there isn’t any good news, but I’ll try and write something. I bet you get awful tired of me asking so many darn questions. Take care and be good for your daddy.

                                                                                       With all my love,

                                                                                                                              Johnny
