September 26^th, 1944

Dearest Clara,

Well honey it is getting dark, so I will write this now, the other mess truck hasn’t come back yet so I don’t know for sure if I have any mail, I got a couple more of my letter’s ans. It looks like it might turn loose and rain all night, so much the better it will be nice and cool to sleep. I sure get a kick out of reading Vern’s letters, you and I laughed at James’ letters but his is worse yet, he gets to many wood in one place and not enough in others. It’s a good thing I know him, or I wouldn’t know what he meant. I just got 2 US and 2 air mail, so will get them answered now. Write often.
